Exhibited at Tokyo Game Show.

We had the opportunity to exhibit Wabisabi SushiDerby at the Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab booth during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, held in Makuhari from September 26th to 29th, 2024.

We are incredibly grateful that so many people, both during the business and public days, were able to experience the enhanced gameplay and music that have been further refined since BitSummit. We were also happy to hear that many visitors picked up our stickers, and we extend our sincere thanks to Kodansha for preparing the booth.

Compared to other booths, we heard that there was a notable response from international visitors and young children. In fact, there were moments when children, too small to reach the game setup, eagerly wanted to play, prompting the booth staff to quickly arrange a stepping stool!

This time, in line with the concept of “repeatedly getting eaten and rising to the challenge,” we’ve made the game a bit more difficult by making the sushi easier to be picked up by chopsticks and strengthening the rival sushi AI. We hope this provided a more intense racing experience.

Up until now, we’ve focused on developing the demo to test the gameplay experience. However, moving forward, we plan to implement the following features as we work towards the completion of the game:

  • Skill trees for each sushi topping
  • The addition of a permanent status upgrade item vending feature
  • New race courses
  • A sushi costume customization feature using accessories

Currently, we are adjusting our development schedule to target a spring release next year. We would appreciate your feedback at any future events where we showcase the game in a playable form. Thank you for your patience, and please look forward to the full release.
